The Coffee Shop

The aim is to promote healthy eating simply by giving our customers a choice of lunches and healthy snacks. These are served daily from 11.45 - 1.00 everything is homemade and very reasonably priced and where possible Fairtrade products are used.

The Cafe has a warm and welcoming atmosphere where anyone can pop in and sample the fresh coffee or homemade lunches.

Recipe of the Month

Broccoli and Cheese Tortilla

1 Large broccoli boiled and cut into small florets
1 small onion diced
1 clove of garlic chopped
1 bunch of spring onions finely chopped
5 large potatoes cubed and boiled
2 oz mild cheddar cheese grated
fresh parsley finely chopped
Salt and pepper to taste
10 eggs whisked

Place your large frying pan on a medium heat; add your oil, onion and garlic cook for 3 mins until soft and golden. Add your broccoli, spring onions and cooked potatoes and heat through for 3 mins. Add the beaten egg and parsley and stir with a wooden spoon until the egg looks like it is just about to turn to scrambled egg. Add the cheese, then even out the mixture until flat and leave for 5 mins on a low heat. Place under the grill for a further 10 mins until golden brown. Serve hot or cold with a seasonal salad and some garlic mayonnaise. Enjoy!!

Greater Merseyside Food Charter

Tranmere Community Cafe has become one of the first catering organisations on Merseyside to be to be awarded the Greater Merseyside Food Charter.

The Charter recognises the need to offer people a choice when eating away from home - this can be anything from skimmed milk in your latte at a city centre cafe, to healthy school dinners or having a choice of salads and low calorie snacks in the office canteen.
