Visit to Zap Graffiti in Liverpool

18 Feb 2010

On Thursday 11th February ten young people and three staff travelled over to Liverpool to spend the day with Kieran at Zap Graffiti on Renshaw Street in the old Central Hall building.
The aim of the day was to work together to produce a mural that we could bring back to the Project and hang on one of the walls. Kieran was very friendly and laid back with the young people and immediately put us all at ease. He started by showing us a video of the kind of work he has previously done with young people.  We were all suitably impressed.

The first stage in the process was to start putting some ideas together on paper then to decide as a group which idea we were going to go for. Once this was done we knuckled down to the task of realising the ideas in spray paint, on a canvas.

The young people all engaged really well and had a fantastic time. The finished product was all the young peoples' work and as you can see from the photograph, it is a very good effort, considering that none of the young people had any experience of doing graffiti on this scale before.  Our thanks go to Kieran for making the day possible.
